Gnostics of Nam Hamadi

Dualistic philosophy turns up a lot in the Towner novels.  There are many references to Cathars, Bogomils and Essenes.

Many societies turned to pluristic dieties FROM monotheism because they could not reconcile the existence of evil in the world.  As a result the concept of "Rex Mundi" (King of the World) came into being.  The One God was silent and alone, but still Creator.  Since God was unable to act within the arch of time, Rex Mundi or Satan took his place.  Through ancient and modern thought, these have been continuing themes.

In the 13th Century, the Cathars were destroyed in the Fourth Crusade.  That was the debacle that gave us the famous quote:  "Kill them all.  God will know his own."

Dualistic Gnosticism has been with us throughout history and probably before.  The Gnostic Gospels of Nag Hamadi are full of interesting dualistic lore.  Check them out along with the Towner novels.

Secret Societies

There is no doubt that secret societies have and do exist. Most are benign. Freemasonry is the largest and best known secret society in the western world.  In the Whirlwind, secret societies play a major role, moving in and out of the story line.  Professor Otter takes Towner through a quick tour of ancient and modern secret societies that covers groups as diverse as the Lollards, P2, the Bogomils, the Cathars and whoever was behind "The Peasant's Revolt" in England.

Towner supposes that the real secret societies are, in fact, that - secret.  The Italian Masonic organization, P2, which figured so prominently in Continental politics in the '70's is probably still alive somewhere.  What we don't really hear about any more are the Arab and Muslim banking leagues that blossomed throughout the (Russian) Afghan war.

Towner gives you the low down on all of them in The Whirlwind.

Rennes-le-Chateau Rennes-le-Chateau

The incredible mysteries of Rennes-le-Chateau have baffled people for decades upon decades.  In fact, a cottage industry has grown up around the town and its church and the Tower.

We're not going to repeat the mystery.  We have a link if you want to check it out in abreviated form.  The best exposition, book-wise, is still "Holy Blood, Holy Grail".  What does the secret of Rennes-le-Chateau hold?  Is it buried treasure?  The hidden body of Christ?  Templar secrets?  (Where did the Templar fleet go, anyway?)  The arcane parchments?  Buy the book!  From us, preferably!

Holy Blook, Holy Grail is the book that really started it all.  All of the recent speculation of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code really started with this book.  There are so many themes in this one volume, we can't mention them all.  Buy it now!

Henges and Stone Circles Henges and Stone Circles

Since "Stonehenge Decoded" was written years ago, we've come to learn so much more about the stone and earth circles in Northern Europe.  Without going into a lot of detail, these circles are actually astronomical aids.  Why they were built and by whom will be a mystery forever, we're afraid, but that they do work.

There were functioning societies of which traces still remain in Europe as many as 27,000 years ago.  These people were not nomadic hunter / gatherers, but lived in settled communities and operated what looked like manufactories.  We know now that commerce was widespread at the time.

The pyramids are comparatively young as massive stone monuments.  The Sphinx is probably much, much older, possibly 10,000 years older.  At some time we lost the knowledge that the placement of the pyramids near the Sphinx mirror the position of the stars in Orion's belt.  Would it make any difference to know that when the sun rose due east (i.e., half way through its annual arc) it rose in the constellation of Leo.  It now rises in Aquarius.  Since The Sphinx is oriented due east, there can't be any clearer indicator of when consciousness of the Egyptians began.

Christ's Tomb Christ's Tomb

Although you can visit Jesus' Tomb in Jerusalem today, obviously he is not buried there.  If he did not ascend into Heaven, the question becomes, what happened to his body?

"Tomb of God", one of our selections, provides an interesting answer, but one we don't necessarily agree with.  Be that as it may, this is a fascinating book and extremely well written.

In summary, people have speculated that Jesus came to France, migrated to India, sat it out for a while then went to South America, ascended body and soul into Heaven, was buried under Herod's Temple, was taken from the Temple by the Templars to France.  The Towner books suppose something different.  Something simpler and, frankly, more logical.  It all ties together, doesn't it.
